RISING SUN CAFE', 10 S. Main St., Brooksville
|

|

|
|
The Rising Sun Cafe', located at 10 S. Main St., Brooksville, will display the work of four Spring Hill Art League members until the end of April.
Nancy Cooke Beltz works in oils to capture realistic likeness of her subjects. She believes that her special talent for capturing the inner person-particularly through their eyes-comes partly from years of concern and attention to people's non-verbal expressions. Nancy is an Art League and Rotary Club member and has shown locally in the Art in the Park and the Harvest of Art.
Rhonda Hancock‘s work expresses an eclectic range as she continues to venture into different approaches with water color. A member of the Citrus Watercolor Club, Florida Watercolor Society and Spring Hill Art League, Rhonda is continually discovering and honing her skills through workshops and classes these organizations offer. She is a former teacher of mathematics, having taught at Central High School for eight years. She is currently the Art Coordinator for the Brooksville City Hall Art Gallery.
Muriel Prieto was born in New York and was an English Professor at the Univ. of Puerto Rico. As a hobby she studied art with well known Puerto Rican painters and graduated from the North Light Art School program. She is a member of the Spring Hill Art League Board. Her oil paintings have been exhibited in Tampa, Orlando, Innisbrook and Spring Hill.
Ellen Snyder is a versitile artist who works in many media. She is primarily a nature watercolorist and has shown locally and displayed work around Hernando County. Ellen also creates one of a kind cakes for special occasions and most recently finished the Livery Stable Mural on Liberty St. in downtown Brooksville.
Donations of canned goods always accepted for Love Your Neighbor food pantry. For more information, call the Rising Sun (352) 848-0090.

STRAT SIMON
Strat Simon lives in Spring Hill, Florida and is a retired RCA Records Creative Director.
Although he began taking photographs as a teen, he first studied painting in oils with Emil Walters and sold one of his student paintings to the IBM art collection.
A U.S. Army Signal Corp photographer in Korea and Japan, two of his service photographs are in the U.S. Library of Congress photographic collection. Strat Simon's work has also appeared in Newsday on the cover of their rotogravure Sunday magazine, and in advertising brochures as well as in exhibitions. Shortly before moving to Florida he devoted almost three years photographing the collection of the Vanderbilt Museum in Centerport, NY in order for the museum to be accredited.
Basically self-taught, he briefly studied photography with legendary Harper’s Bazaar art director Alexy Brodovich, and later, in both New York City and New Hampshire, with Helen Manzer who greatly influenced his appreciation for nature.
Strat was a former member of the Huntington, L.I. Camera Club for 30 years, two of which he served as the club’s president, is currently a member and former president of the Spring Hill Camera Club and also belongs to the Chasco Camera Club in Pasco County
